Job Description:

The Relationship Manager position is one of four that focuses on increasing charitable-giving through workplace and individual giving using a relationship-engagement strategy. United Way Simcoe Muskoka operates in an integrated and collaborative office environment to achieve its business-model objectives and growth goals.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of current donors, generating new individual leads and initiating new workplace prospects. The Relationship Manager (RM) will introduce workplace leadership giving through an annual strategy that replicates community-leadership giving. The RM will influence and support the growth of accounts through high-quality engagement, relationship and solicitation strategies that target employee and individual donors/prospects. The role requires year-round and multi-year strategic planning and execution to ensure consistent deployment of the relationship-management model, working with a portfolio of donors and prospects from the workplace, and individuals from the private sector. Additionally, this role includes project leadership in social media, part of a comprehensive, new marketing and communications strategy deploying in 2017.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Deployment of Relationship Management strategy to build charitable support
  • Able to manage 50 – 70 accounts that include existing and prospects
  • Able to engage, cultivate and steward donors systematically toward the achievement of specific revenue goals
  • Disciplined use of a CRM information system (SalesForce custom tool) as the primary vehicle for data capture and reporting to accurately gauge performance against established targets assigned annually
  • Account Fundraising
  • Support workplace account activities
  • Leadership Fundraising
  • Introduce annual leadership-giving cycle
  • Develop individual leadership-giving plans
Volunteer Engagement
  • Partner with assigned fundraising cabinet member(s) to identify and engage prospects, deepen relationships and conduct visits
  • Encourage, monitor and support volunteers to carry out specific roles, providing necessary supports (technical, administrative, resources, professional guidance)


Social Media

  • Functions as project lead and engages with staff Marketing and Communications Specialist in the execution of UWSM social media strategy

Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a relevant field (e.g., resource development, fundraising, communications/marketing, professional sales) or equivalent experience is required. Certification is considered an asset.

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills; ability to apply to relationship-management strategies and execute across social media and digital/multi-media channels
  • Strategic thinking; translate and align our business approach and brand offering to existing and new workplace accounts/individual prospects
  • Demonstrated ability to bring donors, prospects, and stakeholders to action
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite and CRM database programs
  • Ability to motivate and lead others to accomplish common goals
  • Ability to troubleshoot, identify problems and achieve solutions
  • Aptitude to work effectively in a team environment
  • Resourceful, results-oriented with a positive, "can do" attitude
