About the Opportunity: Our Barrie Transit team is looking to hire Service Stop Maintenance Technician (Seasonal On-Call). MVT Canadian Bus Inc. proudly operates the Barrie Transit conventional and specialized transit service for the City of Barrie from a brand new $22M state-of-the-art facility as part of a 20-year operating contract. Service Stop Maintenance Technicians (Seasonal On-Call) are responsible for ensuring that all transit service stops are kept in a clean, orderly, well maintained and safe condition during the winter months (Nov - April).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

·         Knowledge of automotive parts, tools, repair and equipment

·         Knowledge of general automotive stockroom practices and procedures

·         Knowledge of record keeping

·         Ability to speak, read and write English

·         Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement

·         Ability to maintain accurate automated inventory records

·         Ability to operate office equipment and machines

·         Ability to communicate effectively with Maintenance staff

·         Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments

·         Ability to work independently and objectively

·         Must have an ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with other staff

·         Ability to plan ahead and schedule work

About You: To become a Service Stop Maintenance Technician (Seasonal) you must:

·         Be over the age of 19 and legally entitled to work in Canada

·         Possess a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License, or higher with acceptable driving record

·         Be able to pass a Criminal Background Check

·         Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent

·         Be flexible to work variable shifts including days, evenings, overnights, weekends

·         Be detail oriented and able to work independently with little or no supervision


Successful applicants receive full paid training; however work experience in any of the following areas is desirable:

·         Two (2) years’ relevant experience preferred or any equivalent combination of education and job experience (as determined by the Company)

·         Experience working with cleaning products, chemicals and equipment

·         Experience and/or knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems

·         Snow Plow experience preferred
