NOTE --- To be eligible to participate in Canada Summer Jobs, individuals must:
  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Initiative. As such, applicants must meet the requirements indicated above.

Bradford WORKS is part of CONTACT Community Services- a not-for profit registered charity that has a long-standing history of taking a proactive approach to changing social needs. Our services include: free community information, housing, employment and volunteer services. Our community thrift store, The Clothes Line, offers gently recycled clothing and household goods and provides support to families and individuals in need.
 
CONTACT is contracted by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to run the Employment Ontario office in Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG). The Bradford WORKS office works extensively with members of the community to address barriers that affect entry into the workforce. We help people with resume development, interview skills, job search strategies, job retention and access to other supports.
 
Bradford WORKS is a one-stop community employment service operated by CONTACT Community Services. We provide support for local job seekers and employers in BWG. Located downtown on Holland Drive, Bradford WORKS is the known face of 'employment support' in BWG and has been working in the community since 2010.
 
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Administrative support to the Bradford WORKS Community Employment Service team by following standard procedures for receiving and directing calls and welcoming walk-in clients.
  2. Provide an overview of programs and services and processes to clients and when necessary, assist clients with completion of a self-directed needs assessment
  3. Provide an orientation /information to clients regarding job search tools and resources.
  4. Participates and assists with community events and job fairs
  5. Participate in outreach activities in the community
  6. Work collaboratively with Bradford WORKS team to support Employment Ontario programming.
  7. Faxing, photocopying, and administrative assistance.
  8. Assist the Resource and Information Specialist as required.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the Employment. Services Manager.

SUPERVISION: 
The Employment Services Assistant will report to the Employment Services Manager (ESM). The position will work closely with the ESM and fellow team members to support the work of the team in creatively and effectively executing the diverse employment services the office offers. Strict adherence to the organization's confidentiality policy is critical for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Previous relevant experience in social service/community service would be an asset.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • An ability to integrate and balance the often complex needs of clients.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and motivate others.
  • Superior communication skills: written, verbal and presentation.
  • Collaborative, a good listener.
  • Computer proficiency including Windows, Microsoft Office applications and databases
  • Valid First Aid certification an asset
  • Dependable, responsible and punctual.
