Job Description:

The Business/Financial Manager is responsible for supporting the Executive Director in providing overall management of the financial and administrative delivery at the Women’s Centre of York Region.   The Business/Financial Manager works co-operatively and effectively with the Executive Director and employees of the Centre, ensuring that all Centre activities support the mission, vision, goals and policies of the Centre. Primary responsibilities and tasks
Aiding the Executive Director with the duties of Centre management the Business/Financial Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient support of financial and administrative duties:

Operations/Finance:
-Manage the operations of WCYR and the bookkeeping and financial management
-Ensure processes and routines and use of space, equipment and supplies are cost and resource effective
-Identify, develop and recommend new (and revised) policies and procedures as per financials and budgets
-Prepare, present and monitor WCYR’s operating budget as per Board approval
-Ensure proper financial records are maintained as well as prepare appropriate financial statements and reports for the Board, funders and others as required
-Ensure all bookkeeping is up to date and entered into Quickbooks
-Complete the Centre’s biweekly payroll
-Act as operational liaison between auditor and WCYR
-Act as a signatory for WCYR on financial documents including cheques

Facilities:
-Oversee any Centre repairs or renovations
-Act as operational liaison between business’ related operations and vendors

Board and Committee Support:
-Attend Board Meetings quarterly.
-Fill in for ED on various committee meetings as required.
-Provide information to and sit as contributing member of Board Finance Committee.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or College Diploma in Accounting or Business Management. 
  • A combination of both is preferred.
