Job Description:

The Clothes Line is CONTACT Community Services' social enterprise that collects second hand goods and sells them to the community. By doing this, The Clothes Line helps support CONTACT's other services including our Housing Resource Centre, Volunteer South Simcoe, and Community Information. Over 50 volunteers support The Clothes Line and it acts as a community hub for affordable clothing and household items for all members of the New Tecumseth community.

The role of the Retail Associate will be to assist the manager and staff with all aspects of operations at The Clothes Line. They will work as part of our dynamic team to ensure the store maintains its reputation as a safe and inclusive space for all persons, with a focus on high quality of second hand goods and exceptional customer service. The Retail Associate will have an opportunity to build key customer service skills fundamental to the retail industry, as well as be responsible for handling cash and sales, merchandising, and the sorting and handling of donations. The Retail Associate will also be helping in the training of new volunteers.

Must be available to work Thursday, Friday and Saturdays and to cover occasional shifts on other days.A criminal reference check is required.Our organization relies on fundraising activities and events.  We encourage all staff to volunteer at our events/activities.  We acknowledge that this will be during your personal time and we want to thank you in advance for your support and will show our appreciation to you where we can.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Delivering high quality customer service
  • Delivering orientation to new volunteers
  • Delegating tasks to volunteers
  • Assisting with the marketing of The Clothes Line including social media
  • Planning and executing special events such as Potato Fest
  • Identifying and implementing operational improvements
  • Engaging in the exchange of ideas to modernize the store through technology and new communication mediums.
  • helping manage donations
  • helping to merchandize the store (i.e. summer displays, windows)
  • supporting customers and volunteers with special needs, and/or who are victims of circumstance, and individuals involved with the justice system
  •  helping to maintain a safe and secure work/shopping environment
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Valid First Aid certification an asset
